Police Investigating Altercation Outside Amity University in Noida’s Sector 125

The Noida police have taken action against four individuals for their involvement in a violent brawl captured on video outside Amity University in Noida’s Sector 125. The incident gained widespread attention after the footage went viral on social media platforms. Officers from the police department, who are familiar with the matter, have confirmed that the four men have been booked for charges of rioting and causing harm to others.

According to the police officers, it is believed that the individuals involved in the altercation are students of Amity University. However, this can only be confirmed after their arrest and proper investigation is conducted.

When contacted for a statement, Savita Mehta, the Vice President of Communications at the Amity Education Group, stated, “The incident occurred outside the university. Moreover, it is not yet confirmed whether the students are affiliated with our institution.”

The video, recorded on Friday, shows multiple individuals engaged in physical violence, with punches and kicks being exchanged. One person even resorts to picking up a pan from a nearby shop and using it as a weapon. The police have taken suo motu cognizance of the video and have filed a First Information Report (FIR) at the Sector 126 police station. The exact cause of the fight remains unclear.

A senior police officer, who wishes to remain anonymous, shared, “The four suspects, who are currently at large, were identified by a university student who witnessed the incident. The eyewitness claims that these suspects are also students of Amity University. However, their status as students can only be confirmed once we apprehend them and verify their documents.”

Rajneesh Verma, Assistant Commissioner of Police-1, Noida, revealed the charges against the four students, stating, “Taking suo moto cognizance of the video, the identified individuals, namely Tushar Nagar, Prashant, Mohit, and Bhati, have been booked under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 147 (rioting) of the Indian Penal Code.”
