Centralia Police have successfully apprehended a man who attempted to rob a convenience store in Centralia on Saturday morning. The incident led to the recovery of multiple firearms from the suspect’s apartment.

Failed Robbery Attempt

According to the authorities, the incident occurred at approximately 9:15 a.m. when a man entered a store located on Ellsbury and Borthwick Street. Displaying a firearm tucked into his waistband, the suspect demanded money from the store staff.

Fortunately, the suspect left the store empty-handed, fleeing the scene in a light-colored Saturn before accomplishing his criminal intent.

Apprehension and Firearms Recovery

Centralia Police received information suggesting that the suspect may reside in the nearby Chehalis area. Acting swiftly, officers located the suspect’s vehicle parked at an apartment complex.

Jeremy A. Sturdevant, a 42-year-old resident of Chehalis, was promptly taken into custody by the authorities. Following the arrest, detectives obtained a search warrant for Sturdevant’s apartment.

During the execution of the search warrant, law enforcement recovered multiple firearms from Sturdevant’s residence. The discovery of these weapons serves as a significant development in the case, providing law enforcement with potential evidence related to the failed robbery attempt.

Legal Proceedings

Jeremy A. Sturdevant is now facing charges of first-degree robbery and extortion. He was subsequently booked into the Lewis County Jail, where he will await further legal proceedings.
