Family Reunites with Long-Lost Son After 22 Years, Unaware of Conman’s Scheme

Family reunion

Amethi, Uttar Pradesh: A heart-wrenching incident unfolded in the village of Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, as a family was deceived by a conman who disguised himself as a Sadhu. The shocking video of the imposter, masquerading as a holy man, went viral on social media, capturing the attention of the entire nation.

The video depicted the Sadhu singing soulful melodies and playing the Sarangi instrument, while being surrounded by curious villagers and emotional family members. They believed that this man was their long-lost son who had mysteriously disappeared from their lives over two decades ago.

Overwhelmed with joy, the village and the family attempted to persuade the supposed Sadhu to abandon his ascetic life and return to a normal existence. However, much to their dismay, the imposter vehemently refused, claiming to have renounced the material world and vowed never to go back. This left the family in tears, torn between happiness at seeing their son and devastation at his refusal to reintegrate into their lives.

Revelation: The Sadhu was an Imposter

Subsequently, it was discovered that the person posing as their son was not their actual missing child. Instead, he was a skilled fraudster who employed this modus operandi to exploit families who had lost their loved ones. Through emotional manipulation, he managed to extort money from vulnerable families longing for their children’s return.

In this particular case, the imposter, disguised as a Sadhu named Arun, contacted the family the next day and informed them that he was indeed their son, ready to reunite with them. However, there was a catch. He demanded a hefty sum of ₹11 lakh as a payment to his guru at the Ashram, claiming it was necessary for the reunion to take place.

Filled with hope, the family scraped together ₹3 lakh by selling their land. But just as they were about to hand over the money, the truth was revealed. The imposter, who had deceived them as a Sadhu, was actually a Muslim man named Nafees. Shockingly, he was already married and had been involved in similar scams for an extended period.

Further investigation revealed that Nafees came from Tikariya village and belonged to a family notorious for running a gang of impostors. This deceitful group had previously been jailed for perpetrating frauds under the guise of Sadhus. Nafees had arrived in the village on January 27, targeting Arun’s aunt and skillfully convincing her that he was their long-lost son by showing her a few identifying marks.

Police Investigation and Arrest

As news of the scam spread, the police swiftly took action and registered a complaint regarding the matter. It was discovered that Nafees had four brothers, one of whom, identified as Rashid, had already been apprehended for duping another family using a similar pattern.
