Arrest Made in 17-Year-Old’s Shooting Death in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – Investigators from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department have announced a breakthrough in the case of a 17-year-old who was shot and killed in December 2023.

29-year-old Shawn Davis Jr. has been taken into custody by officers on Friday, February 9. He was then transported to the Law Enforcement Center for questioning by investigators.

Following the interrogation, Davis was handed over to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. He now faces several charges, including first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and firing a firearm into an inhabited property on three occasions.

The incident occurred on December 27, when the lifeless body of Murahnee Johnson was discovered in the 16200 block of Long Talon Way at approximately 2:30 a.m. Another individual also sustained gunshot wounds during the incident.
