Springfield Man Arrested and Charged in Connection with Shooting Near Wright State University

9th February—A man from Springfield has been apprehended and accused in relation to a shooting that took place in a parking lot near Wright State University on Tuesday.

The arrest warrant for 35-year-old Brandon Tindall was obtained by Fairborn detectives on Thursday, who later located him in Springfield. Fairborn police successfully transported him to the Greene County Jail without any complications.

In the course of their investigation, detectives managed to recover a handgun, which has since been logged as evidence.

Charges pressed against Tindall include having weapons while under disability, tampering with evidence, carrying a concealed weapon, and violation of a temporary protection order in Fairborn Municipal Court.

The incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, with multiple individuals dialing 911 to report a shooting at the University Shoppes parking lot situated at 2600 Colonel Glenn Highway, near the Texas Roadhouse.

An individual who identified himself as the victim of the shooting stated that he had no knowledge of who had shot him.

Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement discovered the wounded man with two gunshot wounds. He was promptly transported to the hospital and is currently in a stable condition.

As part of the investigation, police obtained surveillance footage from Texas Roadhouse. The video reportedly captured Tindall, a woman identified as the mother of his children, and at least one other person in close proximity to a white Chevrolet Suburban and a maroon SUV within the parking lot.

While inside the Suburban, a black truck parked nearby. Following Tindall and the others exiting the Suburban, the shooting victim disembarked from the truck and approached Tindall at the side of the Suburban.

The video footage did not capture the events that transpired at the side of the Suburban, but it did show individuals in the vicinity fleeing the scene, as stated in court records. Tindall subsequently reentered the SUV and departed from the parking lot.

During interviews with investigators, the woman involved disclosed that she had arranged to meet Tindall for dinner and to allow him to spend time with their children, according to an affidavit.

She further revealed that she had no prior knowledge of the victim’s presence in the parking lot and that she and Tindall had argued earlier that morning about not wanting to be together.

When interviewed on Thursday, Tindall informed the police that he had met with the mother of his children to have a meal and see their kids when he was unexpectedly approached by the victim, who allegedly began assaulting him.

According to an affidavit, “While on the ground, the victim punches him five to six times.” Tindall claimed that he reached for his pistol, which he had on his person, and fired two shots at the victim, who then fled the scene.

Tindall stated that he did not intend to shoot the man but did so in order to protect himself and others, as per court records.

Following the incident, Tindall returned to his residence in Springfield, where he reportedly removed the bullets from his gun and discarded it near his home.

Investigators have confirmed the existence of a protection order between Tindall and the woman involved.

The shooting remains under investigation, and there is a possibility of additional charges being filed.
