Pedestrian Fatally Struck by SUV in Merritt Island

MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. – In a tragic incident late Friday night, a pedestrian lying in the middle of a road in Merritt Island was struck and killed by an SUV, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The fatal crash occurred at around 10:20 p.m. on N. Banana River Drive at Central Avenue, as reported by troopers.

According to the FHP crash report, the pedestrian, a 29-year-old Merritt Island resident, was found lying in the northbound lane of Banana River Drive directly in the path of the SUV.

As a result of the unfortunate circumstance, the SUV collided with the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene, as mentioned in the report.
