Ottawa Homicide Investigation Identifies Suspect in Shooting Death

Ottawa homicide investigators have identified a suspect in connection with the shooting death of a 33-year-old man on Champagne Avenue South in Little Italy.

Jama Roble, a resident of Ottawa, died in hospital on Thursday from the injuries he sustained after being shot in the mid-afternoon of January 29.

The Ottawa Police Service announced on Friday that Gibriil Bakal, a 29-year-old from Edmonton, is wanted for first-degree murder in relation to Roble’s death.

Described as a black male, six feet one inch tall, and weighing approximately 190 pounds (86 kg), Bakal remains at large.

The Ottawa Police Service’s homicide unit is urging anyone with information on Bakal’s whereabouts to contact them at 613-236-1222, ext. 5493.
