Fatal Crash Being Investigated by Central Alberta Mounties

Central Alberta Mounties are currently investigating the cause of a tragic and fatal crash that occurred west of Wetaskiwin on Friday afternoon.

On the afternoon of February 9, 2024, at approximately 3:25 p.m., the Wetaskiwin RCMP received a distressing report regarding a serious two-vehicle collision that took place at the intersection of Highway 13 and Range Road 261.

Upon reaching the scene, RCMP officers and investigators discovered that a sedan had been forcefully struck by a ½ ton pickup truck. Despite the immediate response and efforts of emergency crews, one of the occupants of the sedan tragically lost his life at the scene of the accident.

The deceased individual has been identified as a 29-year-old male resident of Maskwacis, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Meanwhile, the driver of the sedan was quickly transported by STARS (Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society) to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment for serious injuries sustained in the collision.
