Woman Arrested for Allegedly Taking Explicit Photos of Children in Salida

SALIDA, Colo. – The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) has reported the arrest of a 25-year-old woman, Brittany Katelyn Smith from Salida, after she allegedly took explicit photos of two young children she was babysitting.

On Thursday, February 8, detectives from the Salida Police Department contacted the CCSO regarding the disturbing incident. Law enforcement officials interviewed Smith and discovered that she had taken explicit photos of the children and shared them with an unidentified individual online.

In response to this heinous act, CCSO obtained an arrest warrant for Smith. Later that evening, she was apprehended and taken into custody. Smith now faces two felony charges of Sexual Exploitation of a Child and has been transported to the Chaffee County Detention Facility. As of now, she is being held without bond. Smith’s first appearance in Chaffee County Court is scheduled for February 21.
