Vehicle Crash and Arrest in Claymont

Claymont, United Kingdom – In a dramatic turn of events on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, a vehicle crash followed by a police chase resulted in the arrest of 29-year-old Zamir Dade. The incident occurred at approximately 8:38 p.m. in the 300 block of Forrest Avenue, Claymont.

Upon the arrival of patrol officers from A-squad, they discovered a white Chevrolet Malibu engulfed in flames. Astonishingly, the vehicle was unoccupied, leaving officers puzzled about the whereabouts of the driver. Further investigation unveiled that the same vehicle had just evaded the Wilmington Police Department and fled towards Governor Printz Boulevard. Determined to apprehend the suspect, New Castle County Police Department (NCCPD) officers, accompanied by a K9 team, scoured the vicinity and eventually found the driver near 3700 Philadelphia Pike.

As the officers approached, the suspect made a desperate attempt to escape. A heart-pounding pursuit ensued, during which the officers deployed a taser in an effort to subdue the suspect. However, the taser proved ineffective, prompting the suspect to continue fleeing. Witnesses reported seeing the suspect reaching into his waistband and pockets while on the run. Sensing the urgency, K9 Havok, a highly trained police dog, was unleashed to assist in apprehending the suspect. Despite the dog’s valiant attempt, the suspect persisted in resisting arrest.

Undeterred by the suspect’s resistance, the officers persisted in their efforts to bring him into custody. In a shocking turn of events, the suspect unleashed a series of punches on two county officers, further escalating the situation. With the combined force of the K9 team, the officers were finally able to subdue and detain the suspect. Following the arrest, the suspect was promptly transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation and later released.
