In a shocking turn of events, authorities suspect that a fire that occurred outside Philadelphia resulted in the tragic deaths of multiple family members. Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer announced during a news conference on Friday that the charred remains of six individuals have been recovered from the ashes of a devastating fire that engulfed a home in East Lansdowne on Wednesday. Authorities recovered remains believed to be that of Canh Le’s near a gun found amidst the remnants of the fire. In a disturbing twist, court records indicate that Canh Le had a previous brush with the law in 2006 when he was arrested in Delaware County on charges of making terroristic threats, trespassing, and disorderly conduct. The first charge was eventually dropped, and Le was placed in a diversion program for the remaining charges, resulting in community service, probation, and fines.

The dreadful incident unfolded when police responded to a call regarding a child, later identified as Le’s niece, who had been shot at the home. As officers arrived at the scene, they were met with gunfire, resulting in two officers sustaining injuries. One of the wounded officers, 44-year-old John Meehan from the East Lansdowne department, was discharged on Friday after undergoing surgery for a left forearm wound. Lansdowne Officer David Schiazza, 54, was released from the hospital on Thursday after being treated for a leg wound.

Stollsteimer praised the heroic actions of officers from Upper Darby in saving the lives of their injured colleagues by swiftly evacuating them from the dangerous situation.
