Police Investigating and Offering Reward After Tragic Shooting of Toddler and Mother
The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has launched an intensive investigation into the heartbreaking shooting incident that claimed the life of a two-year-old child, identified as Jeremy Poou-Caceres from the Chillum area. The child’s mother was also injured in the incident; however, her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. In a bid to bring the perpetrator(s) to justice, a reward of up to £25,000 is being offered for any information that leads to an arrest and indictment in this case.

On February 8, 2024, at approximately 5:35 pm, a diligent detective, who was on duty in the vicinity of the 1400 block of Kanawha Street, heard gunshots and immediately sprang into action to locate the crime scene.
Upon arriving at the scene, the detective discovered both the toddler and his mother outside in an apartment complex.
With swift thinking and utilizing his department-issued trauma kit, the detective administered life-saving measures to the young victim until an ambulance arrived. Sadly, despite the best efforts of the medical team, the child was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at a nearby hospital.
The investigation is ongoing as detectives diligently work to identify the suspect(s) and ascertain the motive behind this heartbreaking incident.
