PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — Tragedy struck on Wednesday, February 8th, when a fatal traffic accident resulted in the untimely death of a 40-year-old man. Pickaway County Sheriff Matthew O. Hafey reported that emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene on Darby Road, near mile marker 7175, following a distress call that came in at approximately 11:48 AM.

Upon their arrival, deputies were greeted by a devastating sight – a 2020 Chevrolet vehicle engulfed in flames. Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle, which was traveling westbound, had suddenly veered off the road, colliding with a tree and subsequently crashing head-on into another tree before eventually coming to a halt in the middle of the roadway.

Despite the valiant efforts of the dedicated emergency personnel from Scioto Township and Harrison Township Fire Departments, as well as the assistance provided by the diligent emergency medical responders, the driver of the vehicle, identified as Bradley R. Winstead from Circleville, Ohio, tragically lost his life at the scene. The time of his unfortunate demise was officially recorded as 12:07 PM. Following this, Winstead’s body was carefully transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, where a thorough autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of his passing.

As of now, the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office is meticulously investigating the circumstances surrounding this devastating crash. All relevant factors will be thoroughly examined to ascertain the cause of this tragic incident.
