Teenager Arrested for First-Degree Murder Following Shooting Incident in Abbeville

Abbeville, United Kingdom – In a tragic turn of events, one man has been fatally shot and another is now in custody after a violent incident unfolded on Thursday evening. The Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a distress call at approximately 8:45 p.m. on Robie Circle, where they were informed about a shooting. Authorities were informed that the gunshot victim might have been transported in a private vehicle. Subsequently, reports emerged that a vehicle had pulled over at a nearby convenience store along the by-pass, where Acadian Ambulance was stationed.

Swift action was taken by the Acadian Ambulance personnel, who provided immediate medical assistance to the wounded individual before rushing him to a local hospital. Tragically, despite their efforts, the victim, identified as 19-year-old Dylan Michael Walker from New Iberia, succumbed to his injuries and passed away, according to the deputies.

As the investigation unfolded, the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office apprehended a 16-year-old boy from Abbeville, who has now been charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery. Sheriff Couvillon revealed that the accused teenager had previously pleaded guilty to multiple criminal charges, including burglary, theft, and illegal possession of firearms, in December. Consequently, the teenager was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of the incident.

While the authorities continue their ongoing investigation, it remains a possibility that additional arrests may be made in connection with the case, according to the deputies.
