February 9, 2024 – An 18-year-old suspect has been charged in the fatal shooting of two teenagers in the parking lot of Meigs Magnet School on Ramsey Street in East Nashville on Thursday evening.

The victims have been identified as 16-year-old Takeo Bills from Chapel Hill, Tennessee, and 17-year-old Jalen McAdams from Franklin, Tennessee.

According to the ongoing investigation, Bills and McAdams arrived together at the school parking lot in a white Nissan Altima at approximately 6:50 p.m. on Thursday. At the time, a black Honda Accord, occupied by the suspect, Rico Doss Jr., 18, and another individual, was already parked next to the Altima. Doss and the other person entered the back seat of the Altima, and it was during this time that the two victims were shot.

Following the shooting, Doss and the other person quickly exited the Altima and fled the scene in the Honda Accord. Unfortunately, McAdams was pronounced dead at the scene, while Bills succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

The investigation is currently exploring a possible drug-related motive for the shooting.

During the night, detectives were able to track the movements of the Honda Accord, which included a brief stop at a nearby apartment complex. Further investigation at the apartment complex yielded information that identified Doss as a potential suspect in the double homicide at Meigs School.

On Friday morning, Doss was taken into custody at his apartment on Old Hickory Boulevard in Bellevue on an outstanding warrant for attempted criminal homicide, which was issued on Thursday night in relation to a shooting incident that occurred the previous Saturday on Westchester Drive. In that case, a 17-year-old victim was shot in the leg during a marijuana transaction that turned violent.

Authorities are currently continuing their efforts to identify the individual who was with Doss at Meigs School on Thursday night.

If you have any information regarding this person, please contact Nashville Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
