MPD Arrests Teenage Boy in Connection with Northwest D.C. Murder
WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announced the arrest of a teenage boy in relation to the fatal shooting of a man in Northwest D.C. in December.
On December 18, 2023, officers promptly responded to reports of gunshots in the 5400 block of Illinois Ave. NW at approximately 11:45 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Urgently, he was transported to a nearby hospital, sadly succumbing to his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Jihad Darden, a 27-year-old resident of Northwest D.C.
MPD, in collaboration with the Prince George’s County Police Department, apprehended a 15-year-old male from Bowie, Maryland on February 7. Once extradited to D.C., he will face charges of first-degree murder while armed.
