Accident – Death – Obituary News : Hyderabad [Telangana], February 7 (ANI): The wife of an Indian student who was reportedly brutally attacked in Chicago has reached out to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, seeking his assistance in obtaining medical aid for her husband. Syed Mazahir Ali, who is pursuing a master’s degree in the US, was assaulted by three individuals in Chicago on Sunday, according to his wife, Syeda Ruquiya Fatima Razvi.

Razvi explained that she received a call from her husband’s friend on February 4, informing her about the attack on Ali. She mentioned, “My husband, Mazahir Ali, went to Chicago. On the fourth of February, there was a deadly attack on him. He was going home at around 1 am when three people got out of the car and attacked him. They also attacked him with a gun. My friend called me, and I found out around 4 am that he was attacked. At around 6 am, I received a WhatsApp video showing that he was bleeding heavily. After that, I couldn’t communicate with him much.”

She further added, “He is severely injured. He has physical injuries, and mentally, his health is unstable. The government has not provided him with any special medical treatment. I am appealing to the local government to assist me in obtaining medical and legal support for him. He is in no condition to communicate. I am requesting the Ministry of External Affairs and the Government of India to issue an emergency visa for me so that I can go to my husband and support him with our three children.”

Razvi has also written a letter to Jaishankar, urging him to help her husband receive the necessary medical treatment and, if possible, make arrangements for her and her minor children to travel to the US. Syed Mazahir Ali, who resides in Hashim Nagar, Mehdipatnam in Hyderabad, is pursuing a Masters’s in Information and Technology from Indiana Weslay University.

Razvi expressed concerns about Ali’s mental trauma and his safety and security. In her letter to Jaishankar, she mentioned that Ali’s friend informed her that he was “severely attacked and robbed at Campbell Ave, Chicago while he was near his apartment and has been taken to some hospital.” She pleaded, “I am very worried about the safety and security of my husband in Chicago, USA. I request you to kindly help him in receiving the best medical treatment and, if possible, make necessary arrangements so that I can travel to the USA with my three minor children to be with my husband.”

The letter has been shared by Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT) spokesperson, Amjed Ullah Khan. In a social media post, Khan also appealed to Jaishankar to assist Syed Mazahir Ali legally and medically. A video shared by Khan showed Syed Mazahir Ali being chased by assailants in Chicago. Another video featured Ali saying, “Around four people kicked me and punched me while I was returning after buying some food. My home is nearby. They even snatched my phone. Please help me.”

Meanwhile, the Indian Consulate in Chicago has assured Ali and his family of all possible assistance. The Consulate stated, “Consulate is in touch with Syed Mazahir Ali and his wife in India, Syeda Ruquiya Fatima Razvi, and assured all possible assistance. Consulate has also contacted the local authorities who are investigating the case.”

In recent news, an Indian student named Shreyas Reddy was found dead in Cincinnati, Ohio. The cause of his death remains unknown. Reddy was a student at the Linder School of Business. The Indian Consulate in New York expressed regret regarding the incident and stated that they were in contact with Reddy’s family, offering all possible assistance.

This incident marked the third death of an Indian student within a week. On January 30, Neel Acharya, a student at Purdue University, was found dead after being missing for several days. Similarly, on January 29, Vivek Saini, another Indian student, was brutally killed by a homeless man using a hammer inside a store in Lithonia, Georgia. A video of the incident went viral on social media, although the exact date of the incident could not be confirmed..
