35-Year-Old Arrested with Illegal Weapon in Ludhiana

A 35-year-old resident of Uttar Pradesh was apprehended by the Police Commissionerate’s crime investigation agency (CIA-3) in Ludhiana after being found in possession of an illegal country-made pistol. The accused, identified as Sonu Kumar, was taken into custody following the recovery of the firearm.

During the arrest, the police recovered a .12 bore pistol along with a live cartridge from the accused. It was established that Sonu Kumar had been residing in a rented accommodation in Sham Nagar, near Amar Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar inter-state bus terminal.

The Police Commissionerate’s crime investigation agency conducted the arrest near Phullanwal Chowk based on a tip-off received while the accused was on his way from Dugri. The police stopped him for a routine check, and upon frisking, discovered the illegal weapon in his possession.

Avtar Singh, the in-charge inspector of CIA-3, stated that the accused procured the weapon from Uttar Pradesh after engaging in a clash with his rivals. However, no previous criminal record has been found against him thus far.

Following the arrest, the accused has been charged under section 25-54-59 of the Arms Act, and the case has been registered at the Sadar police station.
