Roswell Man Arrested in Connection with Evening Shooting

ROSWELL, Ga. — A 34-year-old resident of Roswell has been apprehended and charged by the Roswell police following an incident involving gunfire on the evening of February 6.

Numerous reports were received by Roswell E-911, alerting authorities to the sound of gunshots in the vicinity of Holcomb Bridge and Dogwood roads, just before 7 p.m.

Upon receiving the information, law enforcement officers were dispatched to Red Lobster, where the shots were reportedly fired. According to the incident report, the suspect was observed fleeing into the nearby Krystal fast-food restaurant. Additional reports indicated that an individual had barricaded themselves inside the establishment.

Responding swiftly, a significant number of police officers converged on the area and gathered a detailed description of the suspect from eyewitnesses. Within minutes, an officer located an individual matching the provided description behind the Krystal restaurant. The suspect, later identified as LaDarrius McCoy, was apprehended without any resistance.

Subsequent investigation revealed that McCoy had engaged in a physical altercation with another individual. It was during this altercation that McCoy brandished a handgun and discharged multiple rounds. Fortunately, no one sustained any injuries as a result of the gunshots.

After fleeing the scene, McCoy concealed the firearm in an external freezer located at the restaurant. However, detectives were successful in recovering the weapon after apprehending him.

McCoy now faces charges of aggravated assault, reckless conduct, and possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.
