Authorities have managed to apprehend a suspect involved in the murder case of Kusumpur Pahadi, while the investigation into the second case remains ongoing.

Early on Tuesday morning, at approximately 6 am, the Vasant Vihar police station received a distress call reporting a murder in Kusumpur Pahadi, south Delhi. Upon reaching the crime scene, a police team discovered the lifeless body of Ashwini Kumar, a 35-year-old local resident, with his throat brutally slit, as confirmed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) Rohit Meena.

DCP Meena revealed that the perpetrator had used a broken liquor bottle to carry out the heinous act. Pieces of broken glass were found scattered around the crime scene, indicating a possible acquaintance between the suspect and Ashwini, suggesting they may have consumed alcohol together before the murder.

“After rounding up several suspects, we identified a person of interest who subsequently confessed to the murder of Ashwini. He has been taken into custody, and further details will be disclosed in due course,” stated DCP Meena.

In the second case, a 30-year-old man named Monu Singh was stabbed near Pillar No 191 on Rohtak Road in Punjabi Bagh, west Delhi, during the early hours of Monday. A passerby promptly alerted the Punjabi Bagh police station via the police control room. Upon arrival, the police discovered Monu Singh bleeding from his wounds. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, and a case of attempted murder was registered, according to DCP (west) Vichitra Veer.

Tragically, Monu Singh succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. Consequently, the murder section of the Indian Penal Code was added to the First Information Report (FIR). DCP Veer further added that multiple teams, including those from the police station and the district’s special staff, have been constituted to diligently investigate the case.
