Under the proposed program, suspects charged with minor offenses will be placed under house arrest on the orders of the Judges.

During the period of house arrest, offenders will be required to remain indoors as specified in the order. To monitor their whereabouts, offenders will be required to wear an electronic chip or watch. If they venture too far from their homes, the violation will be recorded and the police will be notified.

Recent data from the Prisons Department reveals a staggering 33,000 inmates detained in 30 prisons across the country, far exceeding the capacity of these facilities, which is meant to hold only around 13,000 inmates.
