A second individual has been apprehended in relation to the shooting incident that occurred at McEachern High School last week, according to the Cobb County Police Department.

Two individuals sustained injuries during the shooting incident on February 1 in the parking lot of Cobb County’s esteemed high school.

Following the occurrence, a “code red” alert was issued, leading to the evacuation of students and staff until law enforcement authorities confirmed that there was no longer an active threat on campus.

It is important to note that the two victims, involved in the confrontation that led to the shooting, were not enrolled as students at McEachern High School. Both victims were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, fortunately with injuries deemed non-life-threatening.

On Friday, law enforcement officials confirmed that Scott Foor, a 17-year-old resident of Powder Springs, was arrested as a key witness to the altercation. Foor was taken into custody by the Cobb County Police Violent Crime Bureau in Union City and has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, along with possession of a firearm on school property.

Continuing the investigation, the Cobb County Police Department announced on Tuesday that a second person has been apprehended and charged in connection to the shooting incident.

In consideration of privacy laws, the police department has refrained from disclosing the identity of the arrested individual, as they are a juvenile. However, it has been revealed that the juvenile is a student at McEachern High School.

The juvenile now faces charges of possession of a firearm on school grounds and possession of a firearm by a minor.

Cobb County School District issued the following statement:

“While individual student discipline details cannot be shared due to student privacy laws, both District policy and the law were strictly enforced. To ensure the safety of students and staff, the Cobb County School District has made substantial investments in Cobb Shield, a comprehensive safety network consisting of over 80 well-trained police officers and a crisis response system utilized by all staff members. Our message to families is clear: the presence of police officers throughout the District, coupled with our ongoing investments in school safety, are aimed at providing the highest level of security possible. We deeply appreciate the support of our law enforcement and community partners in assisting our dedicated teachers as they navigate challenging classroom environments on a daily basis.”
