The arrested individuals have been identified as Prakash Khadka (30), Manoj Massi (39), and Janak Prasad Joshi (25), all hailing from Nepal. Prakash Khadka, who has been residing in Chennai for more than a decade, is believed to be the mastermind behind the operation.

The targeted house, situated in the upscale East Coast Road (ECR) area of Chennai, belonged to Brijesh Kumar Aggaarwal and his wife Amrita Aggarwal. Unfortunately, the couple was away on a business trip to Germany when the incident occurred.

The burglary came to light when the housemaid discovered the broken door on January 30 and immediately alerted the couple’s relatives. Upon investigation, it was revealed that valuable jewelry and a substantial sum of Rs 7 lakh had been stolen from the premises.

Responding swiftly to the incident, the Chennai Police formed three specialized teams to delve deep into the matter. They meticulously interrogated individuals who had close associations with the Aggaarwal family, eventually focusing their attention on the temporary driver of the bungalow, Prakash Khadka.

Under intense questioning, Prakash Khadka confessed to his involvement in the crime. He admitted to facilitating the entry of a gang from Nepal into the Aggaarwal residence, knowing full well that the owners were out of the country. In a shocking revelation, Prakash disclosed that he had enlisted the help of two notorious Nepali criminals, previously apprehended in Thane and Bengaluru for similar offenses.

Through a thorough investigation, the police were able to trace Prakash Khadka’s phone number, leading them to the identification and subsequent arrest of the two burglars. Notably, the accused were apprehended just as they were attempting to flee to Nepal.

This significant breakthrough in the high-profile burglary case has brought relief to the Aggaarwal family and the local community. The Chennai Police’s swift action and meticulous investigative work have once again demonstrated their commitment to maintaining law and order in the city.
