Massachusetts Man Arrested for Attempted Home Invasion in Wallingford

A Massachusetts man is facing charges of attempted home invasion after allegedly attempting to break into a residence in Wallingford, Connecticut, using a golf club as a weapon.

The incident occurred on Monday evening, around 5 p.m., when Wallingford Police Department received a report of a male suspect trying to gain unauthorized entry into a home on Concord Lane. Lieutenant Stephen Jaques confirmed the home was occupied at the time of the incident.

According to Jaques, the suspect resorted to smashing the windows of the residence using a golf club in an attempt to gain access. However, the suspect was unable to enter the property before fleeing the scene on foot. Shortly after, law enforcement apprehended the suspect in the same general vicinity.

Prior to the attempted break-in, authorities had received reports of a man fitting a similar description attempting to tamper with car doors and searching through vehicles in the area. This information suggests a potential pattern of criminal behavior by the suspect.

The suspect has been identified as 31-year-old Javier Andujar, whose last known address was in Waltham, Massachusetts, according to Lieutenant Jaques. Andujar was taken into custody and is now facing several charges, including criminal attempt to commit home invasion, interfering with an officer, second-degree criminal mischief, and two counts of third-degree criminal trespassing.

Following his arrest, Andujar was held on a $150,000 bond and was scheduled to appear for arraignment in Meriden Superior Court on Tuesday.
