In a recent development, an 18-year-old Las Vegas resident, Mikeem Davis, has been apprehended for attempted murder and associated charges following an incident that took place in June 2023. The arrest was made possible with the assistance of crucial evidence discovered on Davis’s Instagram account, highlighting the growing significance of social media in criminal investigations.

According to reports, law enforcement responded to a shooting incident in Las Vegas in June 2023. Witnesses on the scene observed a Hispanic male victim staggering away, bleeding, while noting a suspect fleeing from the scene. The victim, who was later taken to the hospital by family members, remained uncooperative during the investigation. He had sustained a shocking total of nine gunshot wounds, one of which resulted in the loss of an eye.

Investigators were able to retrieve the suspect’s phone from the scene, which proved to be a crucial piece of evidence. Additionally, they utilized footage captured by a neighbor’s Ring camera to gather further information.

Social Media Leads

Upon analyzing the recovered phone and Mikeem Davis’s Instagram account, investigators unearthed video clips and photographs related to the incident. These pieces of evidence were timestamped at 9:58 p.m. on June 13th, firmly linking Davis to the crime scene. The firearm used in the incident was identified as a ghost gun.

Investigation & Arrest

Despite encountering initial uncooperativeness from the victim, the police investigation persisted. This determination eventually led to the identification of a witness and the creation of a suspect lineup in January 2024. It was during this lineup that Mikeem Davis was promptly recognized and subsequently arrested on January 8th.
