According to state police, a male suspect barricaded himself inside a trailer. However, he was apprehended shortly after a NEMLEC tactical team arrived at the scene.

The suspect has been identified as 62-year-old Joseph M. Hurley. He is facing several charges, including armed assault with intent to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

After his arrest, Hurley was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Meanwhile, the female shooting victim was initially taken to a local hospital before being transferred to a Boston hospital via medical helicopter. Her condition remains unknown at this time.

In response to the incident, state police have closed down Route 1 in the affected area, urging the public to avoid it.

Neighbors of the suspect claim that the shooting stemmed from an argument between Hurley and his girlfriend over a pack of cigarettes. They described Hurley as someone dealing with long-standing mental illness.

During the standoff, which lasted approximately 2 hours, Hurley exchanged gunfire with law enforcement officers who had arrived at the scene.

Video footage from the incident shows numerous Danvers police cruisers and ambulances gathered near the trailer park, while negotiators worked alongside law enforcement.

State police have obtained a search warrant for the mobile home where the suspect barricaded himself.

Joseph M. Hurley is scheduled to be arraigned at Salem District Court on Tuesday.

This is a developing story. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
