Clint Griffith, a 51-year-old resident of Apple Valley, is currently in critical condition after sustaining a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head during a carjacking incident in Barstow. This development follows the identification of Griffith as the prime suspect in a murder and attempted murder case in Apple Valley, where 40-year-old Sommer Kelly was tragically killed, and her 18-year-old daughter suffered severe injuries.

The devastating incident occurred in the early hours of January 30, 2024, when law enforcement officials responded to reports of gunshots at a residence on Waalew Road in Apple Valley. Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of Kelly, who had succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds. Her daughter was found wounded at the scene and has since been admitted to the hospital, where she is currently in stable condition.
