A tragic incident occurred today on the western apron of Hong Kong airport, resulting in the death of a 34-year-old male worker from Jordan. The authorities have arrested a 60-year-old tow-truck driver on charges of causing death by dangerous driving, in accordance with the Airport Authority Bylaw.

Fatal Traffic Accident Under Investigation

Authorities are currently investigating a fatal traffic accident that took place in the early hours of the morning on the 6th of February at Hong Kong airport. At 3:02 am, airport staff reported the discovery of a lifeless body on the taxiway, believed to be the result of a vehicle collision. Emergency personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene, but unfortunately, the victim had sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead. Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim was a passenger on a special-purpose vehicle being operated by the 60-year-old driver surnamed Sin. It is suspected that the victim accidentally fell out of the vehicle while it was towing an aircraft and was subsequently struck by the plane.

Under Section 48(3) of the Hong Kong Laws’ Airport Authority Bylaw, causing the death of another person through dangerous driving within a restricted area is considered a criminal offense. As a result, the driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in custody for further investigation. The Traffic Division Special Investigation Team of the New Territories South Region is actively following up on the case. Details of the Deceased and the Accident

The deceased, identified as Mohammad, held a Hong Kong identity card and resided in Tung Chung Seaview Crescent. He was tragically killed in the accident. The tow-truck driver was operating the vehicle to tow an aircraft belonging to Greater Bay Airlines, with the victim seated at the rear. It is suspected that the victim accidentally fell out of the vehicle during transport and was subsequently run over by the aircraft, resulting in his immediate death.
