Accident – Death – Obituary News : Bhopal: A horrific incident took place in Shahdol district, where a 27-year-old man brutally attacked his sister-in-law and her 5-year-old son after she refused to give him tobacco. The accused, identified as Ramlal Kol, not only axed the young boy to death but also assaulted his sister-in-law, Sukhi Bai Kol, leaving her injured.

The incident occurred late on Saturday night at Barkach village under the Beoari police station. The accused, who was in an inebriated condition, went to Sukhi Bai’s house and asked her for tobacco. When she refused, a dispute ensued. However, Ramlal’s wife intervened and managed to take him home, temporarily diffusing the situation.

However, Ramlal’s rage did not subside. He took an axe and returned to Sukhi Bai’s house, where he forcefully broke open the door and attacked her. Tragically, when her 5-year-old son, Karan Kol, tried to intervene, he too was brutally attacked with the same axe, resulting in his untimely death, according to the police.

While the refusal of tobacco acted as the immediate trigger for the incident, it was revealed that both families had long-standing disputes. Sukhi Bai was alone with her son at the time of the attack, as her husband and other children were away working as laborers in a sugarcane factory in Narsinghpur.

After the horrifying incident, the accused, still under the influence of alcohol, managed to escape and took refuge in a house in the village. However, the police were able to apprehend him on Monday. Sukhi Bai, on the other hand, received medical treatment and was discharged from the hospital on the same day. Thankfully, her injuries were not life-threatening.

This incident sheds light on the growing issue of substance abuse within families and the need for timely intervention.

Additionally, in Bokaro, the anti-tobacco wing of the district administration fined 15 traders for violations of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003. The crackdown aims to ensure compliance with the regulations and discourage the sale of tobacco products to minors.

These incidents serve as reminders of the importance of maintaining law and order, promoting responsible behavior, and addressing societal issues that contribute to such acts of violence.
