Tragic Crash on Route 8 North in Beacon Falls Claims Lives of Two Children

On Sunday, a devastating accident on Route 8 North in Beacon Falls resulted in the loss of two young lives and left three adults injured. The incident occurred when a Honda, driven by a 33-year-old man from Stratford, was rear-ended by a Ford F600 truck driven by a 40-year-old man from Oxford. The collision caused both vehicles to collide with a concrete barrier, coming to a halt between the left shoulder and left lane of the highway.

The aftermath of the accident was heart-wrenching, as two children who were passengers in the Honda suffered severe injuries. Despite being rushed to Waterbury Hospital, the 6-year-old Laura Vitoria Alves Brito and 3-year-old Riquelme Alves Brito, both from Bridgeport, tragically succumbed to their injuries.

In addition to the devastating loss of the young lives, the driver of the Honda and his 25-year-old female passenger also sustained serious injuries. They were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Meanwhile, the driver of the Ford truck sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Following the accident, the northbound side of Route 8 was completely closed for several hours, causing significant disruption to traffic between exits 23 and 25. However, the highway has since been fully reopened, allowing the flow of vehicles to resume.
