SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Hampden County District Attorney’s office has identified the victim of a shooting that occurred on Wednesday afternoon on Rochelle Street in Springfield. The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Nicorie Adams of Springfield.

According to the Springfield Police Department, officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation on Rochelle Street at around 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday. Evidence of the incident was found at both Rochelle Street and Braddock Street. Shortly after, two gunshot victims arrived at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Nicorie Adams, who sustained serious injuries, later succumbed to his wounds. The other victim, a woman, is expected to recover.

Authorities believe that the shooting took place on Rochelle Street and that the victims subsequently crashed their vehicle on Braddock Street.

The Springfield Police Department’s Detective Bureau, in collaboration with the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office, is currently investigating the incident.
