Man Critically Injured in String of Shootings and Carjackings in D.C. and Prince George’s County Passes Away

A man who was critically injured during a series of shootings and carjackings that occurred between Washington D.C. and Prince George’s County, Maryland, has tragically succumbed to his injuries.

The devastating news of Mike Gill’s death was announced by his friends and family on Saturday night.

“It is with deep sadness that I inform the community about the passing of my beloved husband… His sudden departure has left an irreplaceable void in our lives,” stated Kristina Gill.

During this time of mourning, we are grateful for the overwhelming love and support from our family, friends, and the community. We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has reached out to offer condolences and assistance. We kindly request respect for our privacy as we mourn the loss of an extraordinary man.”

Gill had served on D.C.’s Board of Elections and the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission during the administration of former President Donald Trump.

“Mike Gill was an exceptional individual, known for his integrity, sincerity, and compassion. His life exemplified everything that is virtuous and righteous. It is impossible to express the tragedy of losing such a remarkable man, colleague, and cherished friend. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered,” expressed J. Christopher Giancarlo, former Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

Although Gill’s identity as one of the victims of the violent spree had not been revealed previously, his friends and family have now come forward to speak out.

The fatal shooting of Gill occurred in January at the intersection of 9th and K streets Northwest, marking the beginning of a series of violent incidents that resulted in another fatality, according to the police.

Ultimately, the suspect was fatally shot by two New Carrollton police officers.

Officers were called to the Mt. Vernon neighborhood after receiving a report of a shooting at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Monday. Gill was inside a parked vehicle when the suspect entered and shot him.

The suspect then exited the vehicle and fled the scene. Gill managed to exit the vehicle but collapsed on the sidewalk.
