Man Charged with Decapitating Father and Posting Disturbing Video on YouTube

Bucks County District Attorney

A shocking incident unfolded in Pennsylvania when Justin Mohn, a 32-year-old man, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, and possession of an instrument of crime. The accused allegedly decapitated his father and posted a disturbing video of the act on YouTube, which was later taken down by the platform.

The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office revealed that Mohn purchased a 9mm handgun just a day before the gruesome killing at the Levittown home he shared with his parents. District Attorney Jen Schorn addressed the media during a press conference, stating that the victim, Michael Mohn, was also shot with the recently acquired firearm.

Mohn’s arrest took place on Tuesday by the Middletown Township Police Department. A criminal complaint reviewed by PEOPLE outlined the charges against him, but it remains unclear whether he has entered a plea or hired an attorney to represent him.

Upon receiving a distress call from a woman who discovered her deceased husband, authorities arrived at the residence around 7 p.m. The Bucks County District Attorney’s office confirmed that the victim had been decapitated and a machete, a large kitchen knife, and rubber gloves with possible blood stains were discovered at the crime scene.

In a chilling turn of events, the suspect posted a 14-minute video on YouTube, in which he held up his father’s decapitated head while identifying him by name. The complaint further revealed that Justin Mohn wore the same style of clear rubber gloves seen at the crime scene during the video.

During the video, Mohn referred to his father as a “traitor” and claimed that he had been a federal employee for two decades. The Courier Times and NBC News reported that the accused expressed hostility towards government workers and even called for the death of all federal officials. District Attorney Jen Schorn emphasized that investigators believe Mohn was in a “clear mind” when he committed the alleged murder.

YouTube promptly removed the disturbing video, as it violated the platform’s policies on graphic violence and violent extremism. Mohn’s YouTube channel was also taken down.

Tracking Mohn’s movements using cell phone pings, law enforcement apprehended him at the Pennsylvania National Guard at Fort Indiantown Gap. He had trespassed into the facility carrying a loaded 9mm gun but was arrested without resistance.

Mohn is currently held without bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on February 8.
