Investigation underway after Spartanburg welfare check turns into a homicide

Authorities in Spartanburg are currently investigating a welfare check that tragically transformed into a homicide over the weekend.

Deputies were dispatched to Triple Crown Way at approximately 6:50pm on Saturday. Upon arrival at the scene, they discovered the lifeless body of Caroline Marie Hall, a 30-year-old woman, as confirmed by the Coroner.

The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office has identified a person of interest in connection with the incident. They are seeking 37-year-old Juan Canino Tobon, described as a white male standing at 5’8″ and weighing approximately 160 pounds. Tobon has brown eyes and black hair.

If you have any information regarding Tobon’s whereabouts, please contact the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office. It is important to note that Tobon currently has two active warrants for unrelated incidents.

An autopsy on the body of Carolina Hall is scheduled for Monday to determine the cause of her tragic demise.
