The incident in question took place on June 25, 2010, at an apartment building located on Ritson Road North in Oshawa. Durham police received a distress call reporting a disturbance, prompting officers to rush to the scene. Upon their arrival, they discovered two men with severe injuries and immediately transported them to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

Tragically, one of the victims, identified as Derrick Brooks, a 32-year-old man, was later pronounced dead. At the time, the police had stated that they did not believe the murder to be a random act, although they had not disclosed many details to the public.

In 2011, a man was charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder in connection with the case. However, two other suspects had still been on the loose.

In a recent turn of events, Durham police have announced that three other individuals have been arrested and charged in connection with this long-standing homicide. The suspects include a 38-year-old man from Port Hope, a 39-year-old man from Oshawa, and a 40-year-old woman from Clarington. The identities of these individuals have not been publicly disclosed.

After nearly 13 years since the crime occurred, the police have finally made an arrest. The suspect, Santos Pocasangre, a 36-year-old man, was taken into custody upon his arrival in Toronto from South America. The Canada Border Services Agency had alerted the police about his arrival, leading to his subsequent transportation back to the Durham Region.

Santos Pocasangre is now facing charges of second-degree murder and robbery. He is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing. The exact duration of his stay in South America and the reasons behind his return to Canada remain unclear.

It is important to note that the charges against Santos Pocasangre have not yet been proven in court, and the investigation is ongoing.
