The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department responded to a distress call at 3:48 a.m. on Avalon Street. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers encountered a man brandishing a knife and threatening a female amidst a group of family members.

Ensuring the safety of the victims was of utmost importance, and deputies promptly evacuated them from the residence. However, the suspect barricaded himself inside the house and refused to cooperate with the authorities. The situation escalated, prompting the Riverside County Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau and the Crisis Negotiation Team to be called in for assistance.
