Among the deceased was Jemin Patel, a 54-year-old man hailing from Melbourne Beach, Florida. Patel, the pilot of the single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza V35, had taken off earlier that day from Vero Beach. Regrettably, he was the sole occupant of the aircraft. The two individuals on the ground who lost their lives were Martha Parry, an 86-year-old resident of Clearwater, and Mary Ellen Pender, a 54-year-old visitor to the mobile home. Fortunately, the other occupants of the home had managed to evacuate before the crash, leaving only Parry and Pender behind.

Clearwater Police Chief Eric Gandy expressed his condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with the three victims and their families; this tragedy could have been even worse.” Gandy emphasized that the Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the causes of death.

Prior to the crash, Patel had reported “some trouble” to air traffic controllers at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport. The Federal Aviation Administration later confirmed that he had reported an “engine failure.” The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration are currently conducting an investigation into the crash. The NTSB will remove the wreckage of the plane on Saturday as part of their inquiry.

It is essential to recognize and appreciate the efforts of the first responders and emergency personnel who swiftly arrived at the scene to assist. Their rapid response and brave actions helped prevent further loss of life and contained the resulting fire.

As we mourn the loss of these individuals, we are reminded of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment. The community of Clearwater is coming together to support one another during this difficult time, offering comfort and solace to those affected by this tragic accident.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of Jemin Patel, Martha Parry, and Mary Ellen Pender. May they find strength and healing in the midst of their sorrow..
