Three People identified in Clearwater Plane Crash

The three individuals who tragically lost their lives when a small plane crashed into a mobile home in Clearwater, Florida, have been officially identified, according to the latest reports from the local police department. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, resulted in a fire that caused damage to multiple surrounding homes in the Bayside Estates mobile home community, as previously reported by CBS News.

The authorities have revealed that the victims of the crash include the pilot, as well as two individuals who were on the ground at the time of impact. The pilot has been identified as Jemin Patel, a 54-year-old man hailing from Melbourne Beach, Florida. The Clearwater Police Department shared this information on their official Facebook page, expressing their condolences for the loss. Patel had taken off earlier in the day from Vero Beach in a single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza V35, and he was the sole occupant of the aircraft.

The two individuals on the ground have been named as Martha Parry, an 86-year-old resident of Clearwater who lived in the mobile home park, and Mary Ellen Pender, a 54-year-old visitor to the mobile home. The police department revealed that at the time of the crash, there were up to nine people present in the home. Fortunately, all but Parry and Pender had managed to evacuate prior to the incident, as confirmed by the authorities.

Police Chief Eric Gandy expressed his sympathies on behalf of the department, stating, “Our thoughts are with the three victims and their families; this tragedy could have been even worse.” The Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner’s Office will now undertake investigations to determine the exact causes of death in this devastating incident.

Prior to the crash, Patel had reported some issues to air traffic controllers at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport, as previously reported by CBS News. The Federal Aviation Administration has since disclosed that Patel had informed them of an engine failure. In light of the incident, the National Transportation Safety Board will be removing the wreckage of the plane on Saturday, in collaboration with the ongoing investigations being conducted by both the NTSB and the FAA.
