Denise Moloney, the public relations manager for the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), reported that deputies and personnel from Hernando Fire and Rescue (HFES) responded to a stabbing report at Sturbridge Court in Weeki Wachee shortly after 5 p.m. that day.

Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a male juvenile with multiple stab wounds. The victim received immediate treatment at the scene before being transported to a local trauma center, where he currently remains in critical condition.

Witnesses at the scene informed deputies that two male youths engaged in a fight with the victim, subsequently stabbing him before fleeing into a nearby wooded area.

Responding promptly, patrol deputies established a perimeter around the crime scene, deploying K-9 teams and drones in an effort to locate the suspects.

Less than an hour later, law enforcement apprehended two juvenile suspects, who were then taken into custody. Major Case detectives were dispatched to the scene to handle the investigation.

During the course of their inquiry, detectives discovered that all parties involved, except for Adam Biley who attends Endeavor Academy, are students at Weeki Wachee High School. The individuals were known to each other, with some having been former friends whose relationships had deteriorated, leading to ongoing issues between them, as stated by Moloney.

As a result of these strained relationships, one of the youths, who cannot be named due to misdemeanor charges, made threatening statements. Consequently, both he and the victim arranged to meet at a specific location on Sturbridge Court to engage in a physical altercation.

According to Moloney, the victim arrived at the location with four friends in a carpool arrangement. Meanwhile, the unnamed youth and another male juvenile, identified as 16-year-old Adam Biley, proceeded on foot. Biley’s name was disclosed due to the felony charges filed against him.

When the victim stepped out of the vehicle, his four companions remained inside while he engaged in a physical confrontation with the unnamed juvenile. Shortly thereafter, Adam Biley joined the fight, attacking the victim from behind and inflicting multiple stab wounds.

Upon the victim’s fall, the unnamed suspect proceeded to physically assault him while he lay on the ground. The victim’s four friends, witnessing the attack, exited the vehicle in an attempt to intervene and stop the fight.

Subsequently, the unnamed suspect redirected his aggression towards the intervening individuals. Meanwhile, Biley, still in possession of the knife, approached one of the victim’s female friends and threatened her, saying, “Don’t make me stab you.” He proceeded to slash at her thigh. Interestingly, the female victim managed to record the initial fight and stabbing on her cell phone before discontinuing the recording to intervene, providing additional evidence that supported witness statements, as mentioned by Moloney.

During the subsequent interviews with detectives, Biley initially claimed that he acted out of fear, stabbing the victim in an attempt to defend himself against the five individuals present at the scene. The unnamed suspect corroborated Biley’s statement but denied any knowledge of the stabbing itself.

Both suspects later alleged that they were “ambushed” by the other individuals and claimed to be unaware of any prearranged fight. However, the unnamed suspect eventually admitted to the prearranged nature of the fight, although he continued to deny any involvement in the stabbing, according to Moloney.

Furthermore, Biley later altered his statement, confessing that the unnamed suspect had requested his presence at the prearranged fight. He added that he intervened and began stabbing the victim when he perceived the unnamed suspect to be losing the fight. However, video evidence contradicted Biley’s account, and he refused to disclose the whereabouts of the knife used in the stabbing.

According to detectives, all parents and caregivers of the youths involved cooperated with the investigation. A search warrant was executed at Biley’s residence, resulting in the discovery of a cell phone and a knife, both of which were collected as evidence. It remains unknown whether the knife recovered is the same one used in the stabbing, as stated by Moloney.

Consequently, both juvenile suspects were arrested. The unnamed suspect faces two counts of misdemeanor battery and has been released into the custody of their parents. Meanwhile, Adam Biley has been charged with aggravated battery causing harm or disability and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is currently incarcerated at the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ).

The cases are currently pending further legal proceedings.
