South Carolina Man to Face Hearing After Slapping Waitress at Disney Resort

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A man from South Carolina will face a hearing next month after allegedly slapping a waitress at a Disney resort in November, according to court records.

Orange County deputies responded to a call about a battery at the Citricos restaurant in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort on November 19th, just before 9 p.m., as stated in an arrest affidavit.

The incident occurred when a waitress was checking in a reservation for three, but a family of four arrived instead, the affidavit revealed.

The waitress informed one of the men, identified as 64-year-old John Munro, that his attire, consisting of swimming shorts and a t-shirt, did not comply with the dress code, according to deputies.

As a result, Munro was informed that he would not be allowed to dine with the rest of the party.

Munro reportedly understood the situation but expressed his desire to stay with the rest of the party in the seating area.

Later, when the waitress brought the party to their table, she noticed Munro following along as if he intended to be seated with the other three, the affidavit stated.

At that point, a female guest approached the waitress and requested that Munro not be allowed to sit with them, stating that he was intoxicated and underdressed, which was embarrassing for her as it was her birthday, investigators explained.

Despite being told once again by the waitress that he couldn’t join the party due to his attire, Munro allegedly slapped the waitress’ forehead three times while repeatedly saying, “Jazz Jazz Jazz,” according to the affidavit.

The female guest tried to intervene by waving at Munro and telling him to stop, after which he walked away.

The guest then apologized to the waitress multiple times, who reported the incident to her supervisor.

Deputies noted that Munro appeared intoxicated and kept stating that he planned to sue Disney.

Munro was subsequently arrested and is now facing a misdemeanor charge of battery. He is scheduled to appear in court on February 16th for a pre-trial conference.
