Bengaluru Woman Alleges Assault by Retired Head Constable Over Property Dispute

Bengaluru, India: In a shocking incident, a 47-year-old woman has come forward to accuse a retired head constable of assaulting her over a property dispute. The incident took place in west Bengaluru, where the woman, Radhika (name changed), visited the retired head constable, Shankar (name changed), to demand the money he owed her for the sale of her property in Jnanabharathi.

According to Radhika, she was introduced to Shankar by a friend when she was seeking assistance to register the sale deed of her BDA property in Jnanabharathi. Shankar, who was then working at the Bangalore Development Authority, helped her with the registration process. However, instead of buying the property from her as promised, he allegedly made a sale deed in his own name and gave her two bounced cheques worth Rs 22 lakh in June 2022.

Radhika claimed that Shankar kept delaying the payment and when she went to his house on Saturday morning to demand her money, he not only refused to give it to her but also threatened her with dire consequences if she approached him again. Frustrated with the situation, she mentioned that she would complain to the police commissioner. However, instead of resolving the matter peacefully, Shankar allegedly abused and physically assaulted her, even threatening to file a false complaint against her.

The police have registered a case against Shankar only for the assault and have advised both parties to settle the property dispute in court. An officer mentioned that Shankar retired from service six years ago, and it is unclear if Radhika was aware of his retirement when she mentioned him as a police officer in her complaint.
