A man in Maharashtra’s Solapur has been arrested for the murder of his teenage son after allegedly poisoning him. The father, identified as Vijay Battu, was reportedly frustrated with his son’s behavior, including watching obscene videos on his phone and teasing girls at school, according to the police.

The tragic incident took place last month when the police received a missing person’s report about a teenager on January 13. Subsequently, they were alerted about the discovery of a boy’s body. The family identified the body as their missing son Vishal, and an autopsy later revealed that he had been poisoned.

Following the discovery, the police initiated a murder investigation and started questioning the family. Detecting inconsistencies in their responses, the authorities brought the boy’s father into confidence. Eventually, Mr. Battu broke down and confessed to the crime, as stated by the police officials.

According to the police, Mr. Battu claimed that his son had been neglecting his studies and engaging in troubling behavior at school. He allegedly mentioned that Vishal would tease girls and watch explicit videos on his phone, disregarding his parents’ pleas to mend his ways. The school also began receiving complaints about Vishal’s behavior, exacerbating Mr. Battu’s frustration.

Driven to the brink of frustration by his son’s continuous misconduct, Mr. Battu devised a plan. On January 13, he took 14-year-old Vishal to Tuljapur Road on his two-wheeler. There, he purchased a cold drink and secretly poisoned it before offering it to his son. Vishal soon fell unconscious, and Mr. Battu returned home alone, leaving his son behind, according to the police statement.

Later that evening, Mr. Battu and his wife visited the local police station to file a missing person’s report. However, their plan quickly unraveled as the police had already been tipped off about the discovery of Vishal’s body.

The tragic incident has shocked the community in Solapur, Maharashtra. It serves as a grim reminder of the consequences that can arise from unchecked online activities and irresponsible behavior. The local authorities are now focused on ensuring justice for Vishal and providing support to his grieving family.
