Man Arrested after Domestic Call Leads to Chase and Escape from Florence Police Department

Florence, Alabama – The Florence Police Department (FPD) reported that a domestic call on Tuesday resulted in the arrest of a man involved in the incident. The suspect led officers on a chase and later managed to escape from the Florence Police Department.

The FPD received a domestic call from the 100 block of Park Circle on December 6, 2023. Upon arrival, the victim informed officers that the suspect had left the residence in a vehicle.

While en route to the scene, officers spotted the suspect’s vehicle, prompting a pursuit. After a short time, the suspect abandoned the car and fled on foot, attempting to evade capture.

The FPD identified the suspect as 41-year-old Reginald Neil Freeman, a resident of Tuscumbia. Further investigation revealed that Freeman had forcibly entered his ex-girlfriend’s home, causing damage to multiple items.

Freeman was taken to the Florence Police Department for questioning. However, while waiting for the interview, he managed to escape through an unlocked door in the interview room.

Multiple warrants were subsequently issued for Freeman’s arrest, leading to his apprehension by the US Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force in Muscle Shoals on Tuesday, January 30.

Freeman now faces several charges, including domestic burglary in the second degree, domestic violence criminal mischief in the third degree, attempting to elude a police officer, possession of marijuana in the second degree, and escape in the third degree.

He is currently being held on a bond of $40,500.
