In a tragic incident that shocked the city, a 26-year-old software engineer was shot dead in a hotel room in Hinjewadi. The victim, Vandana Dwivedi, was found lying in a pool of blood in her room at hotel Oyo Townhouse on Sunday morning. The swift action of the Navi Mumbai and Pimpri Chinchwad police led to the arrest of the accused.

The arrest came as a result of a timely tip-off from a confidential informant to the Navi Mumbai police. Acting on the information, the Navi Mumbai police immediately mobilized their investigation teams and shared the details with the Pimpri Chinchwad police.

Upon receiving the tip-off, a team from the Hinjewadi police, under the jurisdiction of the Pimpri Chinchwad police, reached the hotel and gained access to the room using the spare key provided by the hotel staff. Simultaneously, Vandana’s friend, Rishabh Nigam, was detained by the Navi Mumbai police.

Rishabh Nigam, who hails from Lucknow like Vandana, was produced before a magistrate court on Monday. He has been remanded to police custody until February 3. According to officials, Nigam and Dwivedi were in a relationship for over 10 years. Nigam works as a property dealer in Lucknow.

Vandana, who had completed her engineering in Lucknow, had been working with Infosys in Pune for around two years. The preliminary investigation suggests that she was shot multiple times, including in the head, chest, and abdomen. The full autopsy report is still awaited.

The murder, believed to be premeditated by the Pimpri Chinchwad police, came to light following the tip-off from the confidential informant. The Navi Mumbai police received information that a person had opened fire in Pune and was attempting to flee to Uttar Pradesh. They laid a trap near Vashi and detained the suspect based on the provided information.

During questioning, the suspect revealed that he had shot his friend in room number 306 of a hotel near Laxmi Chowk area in Hinjewadi. With this information, the Navi Mumbai police contacted the Pimpri Chinchwad police, who then sent a team to Vashi to take custody of the suspect.

Following the arrest of Nigam, the search for the weapon used in the crime was initiated. It was revealed that Nigam had thrown the weapon at a specific location while on his way to Vashi in a rented car.

Regarding the motive behind the murder, investigators learned that Nigam suspected Vandana of avoiding him and being involved with someone else. He also believed that she was behind the attacks he had recently experienced. The incidents had fueled his suspicions and led to a strained relationship between the two.

The swift response from the Navi Mumbai and Pimpri Chinchwad police, along with the crucial tip-off from a confidential informant, played a vital role in apprehending the accused in this tragic incident. The investigation is still ongoing, and further details will be revealed as the case progresses.

In conclusion, the arrest of the accused brings some relief to the family and friends of Vandana Dwivedi, whose life was cut short in this shocking incident. The collaborative efforts of the Navi Mumbai and Pimpri Chinchwad police demonstrate their commitment to ensuring justice for the victim and her loved ones..
