The Metropolitan Police Department Investigates Fatal Hit-and-Run Incident in Southeast D.C.
Washington, D.C. – The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is currently conducting an investigation into a tragic hit-and-run incident that occurred in southeast D.C. in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The incident took place at approximately 1:40 a.m. in the 600 block of L Street SE. According to MPD, a pedestrian was walking along the road when a truck suddenly accelerated from a parked position and collided with the victim. The driver then fled the scene, but later contacted the police.
The victim, identified as Torre Desmond Gray Sr., a 37-year-old resident of Temple Hills, Maryland, was rushed to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of medical professionals, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
Investigation Reveals Acquaintance Between Driver and Victim
As the investigation unfolds, MPD has revealed that both the driver and the victim were acquainted with each other. The nature of their relationship, however, is yet to be determined.
