Arrest Made in Salem Murder Case
Indiana State Police apprehend suspect after fatal shooting incident
SALEM, Ind. (WISH) — In a tragic turn of events, Indiana State Police (ISP) have made an arrest in connection with a murder that took place in Salem on Sunday. The incident unfolded shortly after midnight when officers from the Salem Police Department, along with ISP Troopers, responded to a distressing 911 call reporting a shooting at a residence on the 500 block of North College Avenue.
Upon entering the house, law enforcement discovered the lifeless body of an adult male, identified as Jacob Richard Mitchell, 29, from Salem, who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds. Despite the swift response of paramedics from the Washington County Ambulance Service, Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene.
Present at the time of the shooting were 24-year-old Blake Howard Henry, a resident of Salem, and two adult females. All three individuals were immediately taken into custody and transferred to the Washington County Justice Center for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.

Based on the initial findings, ISP detectives have determined that the shooting stemmed from a domestic incident. Consequently, Blake Howard Henry has been arrested and charged with Murder. He was subsequently incarcerated at the Washington County Jail in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The authorities have already notified the family of Jacob Richard Mitchell regarding his untimely demise, offering their support and condolences during this difficult time.
