Two-Vehicle Crash Claims Life of Frisco Man on I-20 in Callahan County

CALLAHAN COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A tragic incident unfolded on Sunday morning as a fatal two-vehicle crash occurred along I-20 between Baird and Putnam.

Emergency services were alerted at 11:10 a.m. on January 28th regarding a crash that took place seven miles east of Baird. According to the preliminary investigation conducted by the authorities, a 2017 Freightliner, which was towing a Hyundai, had come to a halt on the shoulder of I-20 westbound. The vehicle had experienced a breakdown, and the driver was attempting to repair the engine.

Tragically, a driver operating a 2011 Freightliner, towing a Reitnouer trailer, failed to maintain a single lane and collided with the driver outside the incapacitated 2017 Freightliner.

The collision proved fatal for the driver of the 2017 Freightliner, who has been identified as Yan Broytman, a 43-year-old resident of Frisco, Texas. Regrettably, Broytman succumbed to his injuries at the scene. On the other hand, the driver of the 2011 Freightliner emerged from the incident unscathed.

The crash investigation was led by Trooper Matthew Howe of the Baird Texas Highway Patrol. Troopers from Baird and Albany provided assistance during the investigation process.
