MADURAI DMK Party Member Murdered Over Alleged Family Dispute
MADURAI: A member of the DMK party was tragically murdered by his own family member following an alleged family dispute in MK Puram near Jaihindpuram, a town in the Madurai district of Tamil Nadu, according to the police.
The victim, identified as P. Thirumurugan, was a 47-year-old functionary of the DMK party in Ward 77 of Madurai. The incident took place on Saturday when Thirumurugan was standing outside his house. Suddenly, without any warning, he was brutally attacked by a group of people, resulting in severe injuries.
Thirumurugan was immediately rushed to the Government Rajaji Hospital. However, despite the efforts of the medical staff, his injuries were too severe and he was pronounced dead. Preliminary investigations by the Madurai police have identified Thavakumar, an AIADMK functionary from the same ward, and his close relative as the main suspects in the murder case.
The police suspect that the motive behind the murder was a long-standing family feud between Thirumurugan and his relatives, who are associated with the opposition AIADMK party. As a result, a case has been registered against five individuals involved in the crime, and the police have launched a manhunt to apprehend them.
