Rocky View County, Alta. – The Strathmore RCMP and the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit are conducting an investigation into a tragic incident that occurred at the Mountain View Campground near Conrich. The incident involved the firing of gunshots, resulting in the unfortunate death of a man.

In the early hours of Sunday, January 28, 2024, the Strathmore RCMP received a distress call reporting gunshots at the Mountain View Campground located on Range Road 284 and Highway 1. Upon arrival, investigators discovered an adult male at the campground who had sustained gunshot wounds. Despite receiving immediate medical attention from EMS personnel, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into this tragic incident is now being led by the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit. An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday, January 29, 2024, at the Calgary Medical Examiner’s Office. The deceased has been identified as a 26-year-old male resident of Calgary.
