The body was found at approximately 10:10 a.m. by a vigilant lifeguard near the 2300 block of The Strand. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner has identified the deceased as 31-year-old Jennifer Hanie.
Authorities have revealed that Hanie’s friend reported her missing at around 6:40 a.m. on Friday, informing investigators that he had last seen her near the water line. This report immediately prompted the Manhattan Beach Police Department to launch an urgent investigation, collaborating with neighboring agencies to check for any relevant missing person reports.
In response to the report, Los Angeles County lifeguards and members of the United States Coast Guard swiftly coordinated search efforts both on the beach and in the ocean surrounding the area.
